0voteA: That's a interesting question! The EBV-200-A is a retro fit kit that installs over your existing handle on your flush valve, The bonus of this style is that is has a true mechanical override on it, so if the batteries were to die the user would still be able to flush the valve by pressing in the push pad on the outside of the operator. The average battery life for this unit is 2 years at 4,000 flushes per month. The sensor range adjustment on this unit is automatically calibrated. The EBV-89A-M works similar in that it is also sensor operated. However, this styles does not have a true mechanical override and will need batteries in order to flush either by sensor or by override button. To install this unit you will need to remove the handle on your flush valve and install this retro fit kit in it's place. The average battery life for this unit is 3 years at 3,000 flushes per month. The sensor range on this unit can be adjusted and reset by the installer. Both units will require 4 "C" size batteries for the sensor to operate.
